Who is a Senior Business Analyst?

A Senior Business Analyst is a professional who analyses an organization’s business processes and systems to identify areas of improvement and provide solutions that meet the organization’s requirements. A Senior Business Analyst will develop and implement strategies to help improve business efficiency, ensure cost savings, and increase revenue. They also provide support to project teams and stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, a Senior Business Analyst conducts research and interviews stakeholders to understand the current business environment and develop solutions to improve business processes.

 

 

What is the responsibility of Senior Business Analyst?

  • Work with internal clients and provide timely solutions to both new initiatives and business as usual requests.
  • Ability to conceptualize the best metrics for various problem statement to help business stakeholders achieve their objectives.
  • Analyze business requirements and prepare detailed functional specifications documents.
  • Develop process models, usage scenarios, and user interface mock-ups to effectively communicate system design and functionality to stakeholders.
  • Create use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria to support the development of functional requirements.
  • Identify and document the impacts of changes, risks, and assumptions on the project.
  • Lead the execution of system tests, user acceptance testing, and other quality assurance activities.
  • Participate in project planning and estimation, implementation, and deployment activities.
  • Monitor project progress, provide status reports, and perform issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders by providing timely and accurate information.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure the successful implementation of business solutions.
  • Provide guidance and support to business users on the use of the system.

 

What is the education & skills are required to become as a Senior Business Analyst?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Certified Business Analysis Expert (CBAE)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize data.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with project management software
  • Ability to develop data models and process flow diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of business process improvement and analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of database architecture and query languages such as SQL
  • Should be conversant with R or Python.
  • Should have experience in analytics tools such as Tableau, QlikSense, PowerBI, Periscope.
  • A First-principles thinker: Has ability to get to the root of problems and come up with logical, practical, and effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
